experienced/knowledgeable people might overrule me here!) that you
ought to be able to drop the directories into your web root and it'll
work? I had some issues setting up on 1&1 which are explained here
(http://www.jeremy-burns.co.uk/2009/08/setting-up-cakephp-on-a-11-
server/).
When I build a site, I start off with a folder in my localhost called
'whatever' (obviously it's not 'whatever', it's the friendly name of
the new site). I then drop a nude copy of Cake into this folder, so
the folder structure inside that folder looks like this:
.htaccess
/app
/cake
/docs
index.php
/vendors
Locally, I can reach my site via http://localhost/whatever. When I
upload to a remote site I load all of the contents of whatever into
the web site's root, but not the whatever folder itself. Then I can
access it via http://www.whatever.com. Make sure you copy
the .htaccess files in the root, in app and in app/webroot.
Then Cake just works. Does that help in anyway?
