Re: syncing two databases

Maybe for now I just set up a a file with sql command to propagate changes to the live database when pushing code to live.

I think the CakePHP way is to use the Migrations plugin.

https://github.com/CakeDC/migrations

This is not automated of course. It requires you to think about changes you make to the database and recording each properly. Database migration is a complicated topic.
