Can't you just move the app to the upper directory?

It's not exactly clear to me what you are trying to achieve.

As I understand, your app is:

url: www.xyz.com/xxxx/source
server-path: server_root/xxxx/source/

And you wish it to be:

url: www.xyz.com/xxxx/
server-path: server_root/xxxx/source/

Am I right?

If there is a specific reason that you cannot move the entire app up to server_root/xxxx ??
