Can HTTP POST response size be minimized?

I have an application which sends plenty of HTTP POST to add records to a cakephp 2.3 application which was cake baked. I noticed that the HTTP response from cakephp is quite big. Can HTTP POST response size be minimized? I don't really care about the response. Please note that I am not sending HTTP POST through a form but through an external app written in python.
