Decoupling cake php applications

Hi, I've been doing some research on how to decouple cakePHP applications. The main issue seems to be models being communicated  via related models and controllers. E.G. I often see things like $this->user->post->comment->add() being implemented. So far I have found Carl Sutton's talk, where he suggests using cake events
