user name on default.ctp

Haya everybody.

I am kind of new on cake. I managed to put auth. to work on my project
but now I am trying to show the user name in the default.ctp. I
created a variable like this $nomeUsuarioLogado = $this->Auth-
>user('name');
in my appController but I cannot see the variable in my default.ctp.

Can anyone point me the right direction please
