I have been thinking about the best way to implement timezones. The
php function date_default_timezone_set(..) allows me to set the
default timezone used for all date operations in the script. If I
place this call in the beforeFilter of the app_controller, it will be
executed before every controller call in the app.
Lets say I set a session variable upon login called $timezone, and
then pass it to date_default_timezone_set($timezone) within
app_controller beforeFilter function.
This works fine, but what I'm asking is:
Could anyone see any evil side effectsl when using the function like
this? What would be the 'Cake way' of dealing with timezones?
Thank you!
