Counter with Database

Hi,

i have a question about the Controller.

How i can say to controller to count with the DB?

to say it easier way:

i have articles number and i want to say no to controller: hei take the article_num and count +1 and then save it do DB?

Is this possible with the controller?

Do i can do this with the method find or something or is there an easier way?
