why i use before save for save datetime in filed created and modified

the two field have same value

function beforeSave() {
if (!empty($this->data['Myprofile']['created']) && !
empty($this->data['Myprofile']['modified'])) {
$this->data['Myprofile']['created'] = $this-
>dateFormatBeforeSave($this->data['Myprofile']['created']);
$this->data['Myprofile']['modified'] = $this-
>dateFormatBeforeSave($this->data['Myprofile']['modified']);
}
return true;
}
