Good suggestion.

I tried moving everything up to the top level in my web server. I.e. I now have:

/var/www/app
/var/www/webroot
/var/www/css

etc. etc.

Is this correct? It is not what I understood from the installation instructions.

However, I think in the process I broke it even worse - oops. So my plan now is to clean everything out, and to go back the the clean install of cake without my tutorial code and start again from there.

I'll keep posting .....but if anybody has actually made this tutorial work I would be very interested. I am starting to think I am in one of those 'gumption traps' where I assume it is my own ignorance causing me problems, but actually there is something wrong with the tutorial and/or library code.

I've been trying to figure out what might be your issue with little to no success.  One thing I might suggest you try is to move your entire app directory up to the root level instead of inside a subfolder if possible.  You may have a configuration issue causing cake core to not find the appcontroller.  I do know you said that the blog tutorial worked for you but its just a thought.

I am sure I have an AppController.php file within the app/Controller older. Also, that this contains a good version of the AppController class from the tutorial.

But still I get all of the errors below.

Has anybody else successfully completed this tutorial and could give some pointers?
