Cake3 advanced install, does it work?

Hello,
I am having difficulty getting the following to work:
In: http://book.cakephp.org/2.0/en/installation.html
SECTION:

Using one CakePHP Checkout for multiple Applications

It states how to use a single cake install for multiple cake projects.

In addition,

http://book.cakephp.org/2.0/en/installation/advanced-installation.html

states that by adjusting paths, I should be able to put the main parts of my Cake install in custom locations in the following section.

Sharing CakePHP Libraries with multiple Applications

Will this work with cake 3 and installing with composer or is there another way to make it work?
