Apc Cache Error when running cake shell

I get these errors / warnings when running with Apc cache enabled

Warning Error: _cake_core_ cache was unable to write 'file_map' to Apc cache in [/home/www/cakephp/lib/Cake/Cache/Cache.php, line 323]
Warning Error: _cake_core_ cache was unable to write 'object_map' to Apc cache in [/home/www/cakephp/lib/Cake/Cache/Cache.php, line 323]

I am running php-pecl-apcu-4.0.4-1.fc20.x86_64 under php-fpm-5.5.16-1.fc20.x86_64 and nginx-1.4.7-1.fc20.x86_64 on Fedora Core 20

Can anyone explain what the error is and (other than reverting to File cache) is there a fix?
