for example 

<?php echo $this->Form->input('courses', ['type'=>'select', 'multiple'=>true, 'options'=>$courses, 'label'=>false, 'div'=>false, 'autocomplete'=>'off', 'class'=>'form-control']); ?>

user may select 1 or many courses.
