[phpXperts] PEAR Installation

I need help with PEAR package installation.

I downloaded the PEAR package of this project : http://www.csh.rit.edu/~jon/projects/pip/

Package URL: http://www.csh.rit.edu/~jon/projects/pip/dist/ppython-0.6.0.tgz

I entered my php directory and installed PEAR. I chose "local copy" while installing.

I unzipped the archive and put the contents (package.xml and python-0.8.0 directory) inside a folder named "python". Then I put the "python" directory inside "PHP_DIRECTORY_PATH/PEAR"

Then I created a php file with this content:

<?php echo (int)function_exists("python_exec"); ?>

The output is: 0

That means the PEAR package was not installed properly or not at all.

Please help me out. I have no previous idea of PEAR.
