error with cake bake model/view/controller

Dear Cake guys

I am having a nightmare getting cake to work on OS X snow leopard
using MAMP and cakephp 1.3. The install appears to happen fine and I
have updated my path to reflect the cake console. I am able to bake a
basic application (ie cake bake <app name>). However, when I attempt:
"cake bake model" I get the following message:

Your database does not have any tables.

I have searched the solutions for this and at best I have seen one
that suggests changing the value of mysql.default_socket to "/tmp/
mysql/mysql.sock". However, having done this I am still getting the
same error messages.

Does anybody have any suggestions for what may be going wrong?

Many thanks in advance

Hayden
