Cake is NOT able to connect to the database. Non standard port. Tried unix_socket, didnt work.

Ive added unix_socket to my database.php

'unix_socket' => '8973',

but Im still getting

Cake is NOT able to connect to the database.

Database connection "Mysql" is missing, or could not be created.
SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '8973' (2)

any other suggestions?
