Re: How to connect to a postgres database with CakePHP?

My postgres configuration goes below. I'm not specifying an encoding in the connection object. Thanks.

# Database administrative login by Unix domain socket
local   all             postgres                                peer

# TYPE  DATABASE        USER            ADDRESS                 METHOD

# "local" is for Unix domain socket connections only
local   all             all                                     peer
# IPv4 local connections:
host    all             all             127.0.0.1/32            md5
# IPv6 local connections:
host    all             all             ::1/128                 md5

Hey Luis

Without posting any sensitive information, could you share your database config so we can see if the issue is there?

For example, are you using the correct datasource. If so have you written the connection details correctly, or it could even be something like the encoding parameter is written incorrectly. Check out this stack overflow answer to somebody with a similar mysql issue:

Hello again,

I've managed to install the Postgres module:

$ php -m | grep pg
pdo_pgsql
pgsql

But I am still getting the same error message:

CakePHP is NOT able to connect to the database.

Database connection "Postgres" is missing, or could not be created.
Selected driver is not enabled

Any other hints are welcome. Thanks.

Hi Luis

Please check that the PostGres module has been loaded/activated in your web server.
Or run phpinfo(); and check that you can see Postgres module has been loaded and is available.
Kindly inform us of the result.

Kind regards
John
