You could load any model into your component and automatically gain access to AppModel methods.
$model = ClassRegistry::init('AnyModel'); (or $this->Model = ClassRegistry::init('AnyModel'))
$model->appModelMethod();
$model = ClassRegistry::init('AnyModel'); (or $this->Model = ClassRegistry::init('AnyModel'))
$model->appModelMethod();
