Re: dynamically changing the type in form helper

You should not change anything in the CakePHP core files!
What you have added is already there!

[core code]
case 'text':
case 'password':
case 'file':
$input = $this->{$type}($fieldName, $options);
break;
[/core code]

is the same as your change:

[your code]
case 'text':
$input = $this->text($fieldName, $options);
break;
case 'password':
case 'file':
$input = $this->{$type}($fieldName, $options);
break;
[/your code]

Is the above what you have done?

Enjoy,
John

Re: Missing Method??

Hello my dear,

I am using cakephp 1.3.5 and I have the behavior that you are talking about. It has never changed so far as far as I am concerned.

Re: Phone Number Validation

Hi,

I think you can do the following:

if($this->Model->save($this->data) == true){
  // successful save
  // your success message
}
elsif($this->Model->save($this->data) == false){
    // when things go wrong
    $this->set('errors", $this->validateErrors($this->Model)));
}

validateErrors() displays validation errors messages.
You put this one on your controller function and you can do a print_r($errors) in the view file to get all the errors messages

Have a nice day.

I hope I have been useful.

Re: Missing Method??

Hi my dear,

Cakephp uses the MVC patterns and I think your issue here is that you are trying to call a method of the controller that does not exist.
The path is :
 <your webroot>/<your app>/controller/action/params.

I hope I have been useful.

On Wed, Dec 1, 2010 at 2:50 AM, Hans Wiriya Tsai <hansw.id@gmail.com> wrote:

       <dt>ISBN:</dt><dd><?php echo $isbn; ?></dd>
       <dt>Release Date:</dt><dd><?php echo $releaseDate; ?></dd>
</dl>

Those are example from CakePHP Application Development, but
unfortunately the book was using Cake 1.2.x while I have 1.3.6
version. If I try to open it via
http://http://localhost/applogic/books/ looks OK, but if I try
http://http://localhost/applogic/books/1 an error occur like:

Missing Method in BooksController
Error: The action 1 is not defined in controller BooksController

Error: Create BooksController::1() in file:
app/controllers/books_controller.php.

<?php
class BooksController extends AppController {

       var $name = 'Books';

       function 1() {

Something not compatible between those 2 version?
