Using or not using PHP framework

What changes will my web application finally have if I use a cakephp
framework rather than not using it?
Can I later on change my application without the framework? Does the
file types & formats of my application application remain the same
whther or not I chose to use framework?

I think the file type does gets changed..normally its .php but with
cakephp its something else

Why the error "Class 'ErrorHandler' not found" throws?

Hello!
I am using the latest versions of CakePHP and SimpleTest but when I
start unittests the next error throws:

Fatal error: Class 'ErrorHandler' not found in Z:\home\prodvigator\www
\cake\libs\object.php on line 201

So, why?

Re: $scaffold: When overriding the index() method, I get "view for index not found"! --psybear

If you want to override the scaffold actions you can see the following file:

/cake/libs/scaffold.php

I would strongly advise against doing this, you should never have to edit cake's core files and it will break your app if you ever need to update, I think the best thing to do is to use bake and if need be customise bake

See: http://bakery.cakephp.org/articles/rascoop/2010/06/02/custom-baking-with-cakephp-1-3

$scaffold is intended to be used as scaffolding, this is why you cannot override the actions from the controller.

Hope this helps

Hey everybody

All in all the app is needed for data manipulating, so it is a typical
CRUD application - most of it could have been implemented easily using
Microsoft Access or something like this, I guess. But now it's a
CakePHP app, and I have to make it more dynamical.

So far, every controller has its own view.ctp, though they all look
the same and have the same features. So I want to replace them using a
scaffold view. (I know that $scaffold isn't usually the way to go, but
in the specific application I guess it is a very useful solution.)

So I removed the old view.ctp of my ContractsController and added
$scaffold to the ContractsController, but then CakePHP tells me, that
the view could not be found! When I remove the view() method, then it
works. Is there a way to override the index() method and still having
$scaffold work?

Thanks a lot
Josh

Re: calling a view in pop up

Simple pseudo solution:
Add javascript code to open your view in another window, when you
submit the form using the submit button.

Enjoy,
John

Re: $_POST is populated with the form data, but $this->data is always empty

Please change your code part from:

} else { pr('this->data not set!'); }

to

} else {
pr('this->data not set!');
pr($this->data);
}

So that we may be sure that $this->data is not set with anything
Enjoy,
John
