Hi Ryan and Mark,
thank you both for your responses. I am not specifically looking for multithreaded behavior, so I will stick for the PHP language (and hence Cake) for a bit more.
For now, I am using the hack in Ryan's link, and it seems to work for now. I just call the function at the beginning of the "books/getprice" action. I suppose that when calling another action, the session will be restarted again, therefore not interfering with other parts of the application. Please correct me if this is wrong.
