AES or DES

Greetings,

We have tried to use DES_ENCRYPT and DES_DECRYPT to protect data in
MySQL database. However, when we created a model behavior for appling
these two functions, it failed to work. Has anyone here got it to
work?

We have reviewed the following threads regarding AES, which is similar
to DES:

It seems that they used to work for the older versions of CakePHP.
