problem with login

Hello, I installed an script created with cakephp. The install was successful but when i go to login with the information giving during setup...it gives me an error of wrong username password. the creater spent 2 hr with no answer but seams to think that it's because i am running php 5.2.13 instead of 5.2.8. If there any one who can assist me with this problem.
