Nvm got it.

This is the equivalent of Mysql %Odinga%. Unfortunately, I get the following query:

db.courses.find( {"professor":"\/\/Odinga, Sobukwe\/\/"} );

CakePHP is escaping the backslashes which are used in MongoDB for the LIKe query.
